Short answer
OpenAI's Dots and xAI and Cursor's Grok Bot are both always-on agents with their own cloud computers. As of October 2026, Dots (launched September 29) are included with ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium, while Grok Bot is a beta bundled with SuperGrok and most paid Cursor plans, with all Bots sharing one computer. Neither has a confirmed business phone line.
Same idea, different parents
Both products promise an agent that does not wait for you to open a chat. OpenAI's dots launched on September 29, 2026 and live inside ChatGPT. Grok Bot is a beta announced on August 11, 2026 by xAI, now branded SpaceXAI in press, built and run together with Cursor. Download, sign-in and billing for Grok Bot run on Cursor accounts.
They share the central trick: each user gets a persistent cloud computer with a browser, files and tools, so the agent can keep working when you are not around.

The design difference that matters for business
Read this one carefully. xAI's documentation says all of your Bots share one cloud computer assigned to your user account. Files, browser sessions and command-line credentials are shared across Bots, and xAI tells users not to treat separate Bots as a security boundary. If you wanted a Bot for finance and a Bot for marketing with strict separation, that design does not give it to you.
Dots are described as having their own cloud computer each, with idle-time proactive research on read-only app access, an auto-review step for risky actions, and a monitor that can pause or stop a dot. OpenAI also says dots can still make mistakes.
Team and data questions
- Teams: Grok Bot's Team Bots can be shared across a team and get their own Slack handle, while each person's conversations and memories stay separate. Dots for companies are still in pilots.
- Training: xAI says training opt-out follows the Cursor account and privacy settings, and does not state the default. OpenAI does not train on business data by default for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu.
- Compliance: no SOC 2 or HIPAA claim is published for Grok Bot specifically. Neither vendor is a medical product.
- Regions: Dots on Pro exclude the EEA, Switzerland and the UK. Grok Bot regions are not confirmed.

Who should pick which
Pick Dots if your team already pays for ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium, you want OpenAI's plugin ecosystem of 4,000+ apps, and Slack or Microsoft Teams is where you work. Pick Grok Bot if you already hold a SuperGrok or Cursor plan, you work across Windows, Linux or Android, and you accept a beta and a shared computer.
If your priority is that customers can reach the agent by phone or WhatsApp, neither is confirmed to cover that.
The managed alternative
Oraculo is a managed AI employee. It answers and places calls on your business line, takes instructions over WhatsApp, iMessage, Slack, Telegram, email or its app, and logs into your software on its own secure computer. An engineer sets up your tools alongside you in four 1-hour Zoom sessions; setup is $499, paid once. The Starter plan is $12/hour at a 6-hour weekly minimum (about $312/month), and the Business plan is $8/hour at a 43-hour weekly minimum (about $1,500/month), and calls are $0.19/minute, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Key takeaway
Dots and Grok Bot are close in concept but differ in how you get them, how isolated they are and how mature their business controls are. If customers must reach the agent, add a phone and chat layer.
Frequently asked questions
Which is better for business, OpenAI Dots or Grok Bot?
Dots connect to 4,000+ apps through plugins and each has its own cloud computer, while Grok Bot is still a beta that shares one cloud computer across a user's Bots and has enterprise controls announced in September. Your existing subscription, platform needs and risk tolerance should decide. Neither is confirmed to answer a business phone.
Is Grok Bot a separate purchase?
No. As of October 2026 it is not sold on its own. It is included with SuperGrok tiers (not Lite) and Cursor Pro, Pro+, Ultra and Teams plans, with a weekly usage allowance whose size is not published.
Do Dots share one computer like Grok Bots?
OpenAI describes each dot as having its own cloud computer and browser. Grok Bot's documentation says all of a user's Bots share one computer, so xAI says not to treat Bots as a security boundary.
Which works on Android and Linux?
Grok Bot lists macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS 18+ and Android 9+. Dots run in ChatGPT desktop, web and mobile, plus Slack and Microsoft Teams. Check each vendor for the latest platform list.
Can either one text me?
Texting for Dots is listed as coming soon. For Grok Bot, WhatsApp, Telegram and iMessage are not confirmed. If you want texting channels today, consider a managed AI employee with WhatsApp and iMessage access.
